Low SAG Conductors

Low SAG Conductors


GAP type conductors with low sag can be delivered in a number of construction types. Highest working temperature is at around 180°C, while maximum current load is 1,6 times higher, which means higher current capacity whitout replacing masts and insulators.

For the best result it is recomended to give the required parameters for a conventional conductor. Consequently the producer will suggest a unique construction of the GAP conductor.

WAREHOUSING, HANDLING, SHIPPING AND MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS OF CONDUCTORS


1. WAREHOUSING, HANDLING AND SHIPPING:
  • lifting of coils or drums (up-loading and down-loading from vehicles) is allowed only with appropriate device, which prevents damaging the coil-, drum-sides or the conductor and holds the drum in a vertical position
  • by transportation the drums have to be fixed against drifting, drum-sides must not have direct contact with the conductor, drums are transportable only in vertical position,
  • rolling the drums is allowed only in opposite direction of unwinding,
  • stock - material has to be kept in an upright position fixed against spontaneous motion,
  • recommended stock temperature is between -25°C and +70°C,
  • if stocked for longer period, a sheet-cover or a schelter is recomended to prevent the negative environmental impact

2. BEFORE MOUNTING
  • the "U" nails at the lower end of the conductor have to be released in order to prevent creating "cage effectt" - roll-out of the upper aluminium layer

3. MOUNTING
  • it is recommended to use only devices designed for unwinding the conductor, with recording register of pulling load, brake has to be equiped with a gentle mechanical or hydraulical management of the pulling strenght, the conductor winch schould have an adjustable level of the pulling load with an automatic cut-off function,
  • reels, hookshackles, turning swivels and other lifting equipment accesories should be applied in correspondance with conductor parameters,
  • reels for the conductor must be smooth-running, surfaces must be clean and even, without indentations, the conductor must not be subject to torsional forces,
  • pulling strength - maximal allowed load for the conductor acc. to conductor data sheet must not be exceeded, during the mounting pulling stregth must be monitored and it is also recomended for this parameter to be recorded,
  • pulling speed - at the start of the operation should be gradually increased up to cca 5m/min, in case of smooth run, in accordance with equipment parameters is possible to increase up to 60m/min,
  • minimal bending radius of a conductor in acc. with the material data sheet has to be met, the minimum reel diameter = 25x conductor diameter (by load <= 50N/mm2), 30x conductor diameter (by load > 50N/mm2),
  • diameter of the braking reel has to be at least 30 times diameter of the conductor,
  • by mounting must be prevented any kind of mechanical contact of the conductor with the ground or other objection apart from the pulling system,
  • the minimum allowed mounting temperature is -20°C.

In case some of the above mentioned instructions are in conflict with the technical regulations, technological procedures of the installation company, it is necessary to consider the collisions and these should be eventually consulted with the producer.
